FY12 Region G RCT Members:
Region Governor - Jessica Rannow (governor-g@swe.org)
Jessica Rannow, FY11 Region G Governor, is a Senior Industrial Engineer at JCPenney. She designs distribution centers and works on process improvements for the retailer. Based out of Columbus, Ohio, Jessica is a member of the Central Ohio section. She joined SWE 15 years ago during her freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since then, she has held many roles in SWE including section president, founding member of the West Michigan section, Region H Student Coordinator, Collegiate Interests Committee Chair, and Bylaws Committee member. While she isn’t traveling or using her associate discount card for shopping, she is busy planning her October 2010 wedding, walking her golden retrievers, or remodeling her 100 year old house.
Region Lieutenant Governor – Haydee Hetrick
Haydee Hetrick is a chemical engineer, married to Claude who is a mechanical engineer. She has two (2) children, Jeremy who is a mechanical engineer and Jessica who is an auditor holding a psychology degree; and a four-year old granddaughter, Evalyn. Haydee belongs to the Christian Church and has taken seven (7) groups out of the country on mission trips where they do light construction, teach Bible school, have medical clinics and family fairs in support of the local missionary churches. In her spare time she likes to sing, read, cook and play with her granddaughter. Haydee and her family currently live in Shelbyville where she works for Amcor Flexibles Shelbyville. She is the quality manager at the facility and is responsible for their quality system.
Haydee was born and raised in Puerto Rico where she attended the University of Puerto Rico to get her bachelors degree and a lot of her graduate work. She was involved in SWE while a student and became a professional member immediately after graduation. Today she is a senior life member. She was active in South Ohio where she was vice president of the section, Central Ohio where she was a charter member and held the office of president and section representative in multiple occasions. She is currently the president of the Kentuckiana section and the chair of the regional nominating committee.
She is committed to help her section, our region and the organization in general to demonstrate the abilities, contributions and successes of women engineers. She does not give up easily and has supported the local section through difficult times helping to strengthen it to become a viable section. Haydee aspires and will work towards better unity within the SWE organization. She feels that we are divided; hence, unable to really draw from each other. We are really not supposed to be in competition with each other but in competition with the world. We have one goal to aspire, advance and achieve together, helping each other and bringing each other along. We must integrate students and professionals in a way that we feel we are SWE.
CLCC Team Coach – Tabitha Voytek (tabitha.voytek@gmail.com)
Tabitha Voytek, the Collegiate Leadership Coaching Committee (CLCC) Region G Team Lead, is a Graduate Student in the Physics Department at Carnegie Mellon University. She is currently working with Dr. Jeff Peterson studying Cosmology, and particularly Dark Energy, using 21-cm radiation from Neutral Hydrogen gas in the Intergalactic Medium. In order to study 21-cm signals, she is working with current radio telescopes, such as the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope in rural West Virginia and the Arecibo Observatory in Puero Rico as well as building telescopes and recievers of her own. Tabitha has been an active member of SWE since she started college at the University of the Pacific (in Stockton, California), where she served as her section’s vice-president and president. She has been a member of the CLCC since 2007 and has worked with students in both Region A and Region G. When she’s not busy with SWE or grad school, Tabitha finds fun in doing such “girly” things as sewing, crocheting and decorating as well as continuing her lifelong obsession with Science Fiction and Fantasy through books, movies, TV shows, comics, etc.
CLCC Team Coach – Alison Moscarillo (alison.moscarillo@rockets.utoledo.edu)
RCR - Kanupriya Samarendra (rcr-g@swe.org)
My name is Kanupriya Samarendra and I am the FY11-FY12 RCR for Region G. I am a senior in Civil Engineering, with a minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship. Besides being in involved in Penn State SWE, I am also highly involved with the College of Engineering at Penn State. I am Mentor for the Engineering Orientation Network, in which I provide advice and suggestions on succeeding in an engineering career to first-year students; and I am also a Career Envoy for the College. I help my fellow engineering students on preparing for their job searches and making the most of the resources provided by the College of Engineering.
As far as Penn State SWE goes, I started out as a committee chair in our section my freshman year. I was later elected as a Service Director during my sophomore year, under our Vice President of Corporate Relations. I resumed this position my junior year. I worked on planning and organizing blood drives, volunteering at career fairs and networking receptions, and planning outreach events.
At the end of my junior year, our section president suggested I apply for a regional position. I did so after having attending both We10, the annual Society conference, and the Region G conference. Both of these events demonstrated the far reach of the Society of Women Engineers beyond the collegiate level, and inspired me to get involved at the regional level. SWE, to me, was no longer just a club at school, but a social and professional organization that develops leadership and valuable career skills. It also maintains an international network of women engineers that can communicate with each other wherever they are.
Finally, my regional goals include not only maintaining good standing of all Region G sections, but also keeping them healthy. I will work to keep good records and leave much information for the next RCR. Additionally, I will help struggling sections find ways to revive themselves throughout outreach and “branding”, and help healthy sections be recognized at the regional and societal level. I will do this keeping in my mind our societal and regional goals.
RCCE – Jennifer Moy (rcce-g@swe.org)
I am a senior Chemical Engineering major at Youngstown State University. I have interest in healthcare and hope to obtain my PhD and enter industry working in pharmaceutical R&D. In addition to my role as Region G’s RCCE, I am the Youngstown State University section president. After attending the collegiate leadership forum in 2010, I discovered a new side of SWE I never knew existed. Leaving with inspiration and the desire to spread SWE’s mission, I became a regional leader. Through my position as the FY12 RCCE, I hope to inspire members and create a stronger bond between the sections within our region.
Apart from SWE, I am a member of AIChE and Phi Sigma Rho. To keep a good life-school balance, I enjoy dancing, skiing, running, reading, and playing the piano. My goals for FY12 are to increase blog traffic and communication between sections, create a convenient and well-composed resource for section leaders and members, and most importantly to spread my passion for SWE to other people.
Regional Collegiate Senator – Anne Sheldrake (asheldrake90@gmail.com)
Hello! I’m Anne, your Region G Collegiate Senator for FY12. I just started my final year a Pennsylvania State University where I am majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Spanish and Bioengineering. I am also a Schreyer Honors College scholar and am working to complete my thesis on the extracellular matrix of cardiac fibroblasts on different tissue engineering scaffolds.
This is my first year with a national position in SWE and I am excited for the opportunity, especially after I met the other great members of the collegiate leadership team at CLF in Austin. I joined SWE as a freshman and served as service director for the Penn State section during my sophomore and freshmen years.
Outside of SWE, I am also involved in Students and Engaging Students. This is service and leadership organization that encourages community involvement and service among students at Penn State and provides training for other student organizations. This past semester I was Director of Sponsorship Fresh START, a day of community service and reflection for new students to the Penn State’s University Park Campus. It was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my life.
In my free time, I enjoy getting 8hrs of sleep a night, being outdoors, and cooking. I take every opportunity I can to get out for a run, go for hike, or spend time rock climbing. I also appreciate opportunities to travel and get see new places.
I look forward to getting to know you during this next year. Please feel free to contact with any questions or just to say hello!
