On Monday, October 26, The Society of Women Engineers Collegiate Interest Group at Lorain County Community College held an event “Is there an Engineer inside you” in celebration of manufacturing month.
The event was held at Lorain County Community College CC Mall area from 9 to noon. Students, teachers, counselors and parents attended the event. This event was open for everyone. Faculty Advisor Ramona Anand applied and received 80 free copies of the book “Is there an Engineer inside you” (worth $25 each). The books were handed out to school students who came from local high schools in the area. Society of Women Engineers section President Arshiya Anand highlighted the activities of the group and membership benefits. Dean Zelesnik handed out the books. Female Engineers and North East Ohio SWE Vice President Karin Bozak and Treasurer SWE Virginia Brandt (pictured below) spoke at the occasion and shared their experience with the students. Students availed this opportunity to connect with fellow engineering students and professionals!
LCCC staff and students volunteered at the event and received a free copy of the book, in addition to learning leadership skills and networking with students and engineers from industry. The books distributed at the event support promotion of women and minority in STEM education, especially engineering.
